Buyers in France and Vietnam push prices up in Dorset

The Negotiator

Sherborne, Dorset auction propertySherborne, Dorset was a very busy part of the world on 27th October as buyers from all over the South of England descended on the town for Symonds & Sampson’s latest property auction.

15 lots were offered with a 94 per cent success rate cementing Symonds & Sampson’s position as a leading firm of property auctioneers in the region.

There were a record number of telephone and proxy bids from people who could not make the auction in person.

A detached farmhouse set in 1 acre, on the market for the first time in 50 years sold for £375,000 and a large property in the centre of Weymouth sold after auction.

The most interest, however, was reserved for 2 School Cottages, West Stafford. There were over 200 viewings, 100 people registered for the legal packs and 61 people downloaded or read the legals. Guided at £90,000- £100,000 the bidding rose very quickly with, sometimes, 10 bidders with their hands up at any one time. After 53 bids the hammer fell at £220,000.
