‘Get on board!’ Agents urged to adopt new homes quality mark

The New Homes Quality Code measures how developers are looking after their customers.

First-time buyers

Agents are being encouraged to check new build homes can boast the accreditation standard endorsed by the construction industry.

The recently-created New Homes Quality Code (NHQC), which is a voluntary benchmark, is designed to show developers have met quality criteria, including customer care.

It is backed by the provider of home warranties, the National House Building Council.

Now, a provider of reservation and ‘hand-over’ material to homebuyers that has been endorsed by the independent body behind the NHQC, the New Homes Quality Board (NHQB), is urging estate agents to get on board.

Quality mark

Classic Folios says agents can use the NHQC logo on marketing materials for new homes as a mark of quality.

“It would therefore be in the interest of estate agents selling new builds to check with the developer”

“It would therefore be in the interest of estate agents selling new builds to check with the developer whether this is the case, and whether the New Homes Quality Code logo can be used in marketing,” a Classic Folios spokesman said.

Companies including Berkeley Group, Hill Residential, Redrow Homes, Cala Homes and Battersea Power Station, have all used Classic Folios’ resources.

The NHQC aims to enhance protections for customers buying new-build homes, address gaps in existing warranty schemes and drive-up overall standards and service.

The new framework also includes the introduction of an ombudsman service for future dispute resolution.

Over 100 developers are now registered with the scheme that will initially cover England, Wales and Scotland, and ultimately the whole of the UK.
