Yorkshire-based anti-money laundering (AML) and compliance specialist, SmartSearch, has been certified as a Great Place To Work following an independent employee survey.

The highly sought-after accreditation asks workers about everything from company culture to practices and programmes and has resulted in an impressive Trust Index score, ranking the firm as one of the best places to work in the country.

SmartSearch employs more than 160 staff to support the anti-money laundering (AML) and compliance needs of 5,700 clients and more than 50,000 users across the UK, Europe and United States.

With such a large team, staff wellbeing forms an integral part of its culture, working hard to ensure that all employees enjoy a positive work/life balance and by providing leisure facilities such as an on-site gym, pool table, table tennis and gaming area.

Professional development

The company also encourages continued professional development, with a company-wide mentoring programme, focus groups and goal setting strategy sessions for all employees. SmartSearch has even introduced a library to help staff develop leadership and management skills.

The result is not only a diverse and engaged workforce, but many senior roles held by staff who have progressed from entry-level positions in the company.

Collette Allen (main picture), Chief Operating Officer at SmartSearch said: “You cannot build a successful company without being a great place to work. As we’ve grown rapidly over the past decade from start-up to scale-up, we’ve worked hard to ensure our talented team remain at the heart of everything we do.

“We’re so proud to receive this prestigious accreditation and see our ethos and approach to business recognised by both our employees and the global authority on workplace culture. As we grow, we’ll continue to explore ways to support and nurture our staff and create opportunities for them to develop and reach their full potential.”

SmartSearch’s digital compliance solution provides electronic verification (EV), robust sanction screening and real-time monitoring to one in three of the UK’s top 200 law firms, 30 per cent of top 100 accountancy firms and more than 1,000 property firms.
