Propertymark One strikes Gold with Holmes and Ratner line-up

Dame Kelly Holmes will be discussing how she has ‘raised her game’ over the years and Gerald Ratner will explain what lessons you can learn from his famous mistakes.

Dame Kelly Holmes

Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes has been unveiled as the final keynote speaker joining industry experts at Propertymark’s ‘One’ event in June this year.

Dame Kelly (main picture) will be discussing how she has “raised her game” over the years as one of Britain’s best ever middle-distance runners.

After winning gold medals for both the 800 meters and 1,500 meters events at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Dame Kelly was named the first ever female in Britain to win two gold medals at the same games. She then went on to set British records in numerous other events before retiring in 2005.

Determination

Before Dame Kelly started winning gold medals, her career was overshadowed with injury and disappointment. She draws on how she found the determination and dedication to overcome this in her talks and she emphasises that we can all overcome our hardships, especially in the workplace, just as she did.

Gerald RatnerAnd also joining her as a keynote speaker at the Propertymark event will be Gerald Ratner (pictured), former Chief Executive of British jewellery business, Ratner Group, who famously destroyed his multimillion-dollar company for the sake of an after dinner speech.

Now, he educates others about his mistakes and the lessons that can be learnt from them.

ADVERSITY

Jason Lee, Propertymark’s Commercial Relationships and Events Manager, says: “Property professionals will be able to immerse themselves in a range of different topics, as well as learning from people like Dame Kelly Holmes and Gerald Ratner about their experiences in their various industries, and how they have overcome adversity to further themselves in their professional careers.”
