Hat and Home Founder Ben Gee has revealed how he has been coping with Parkinson’s Disease since he was diagnosed in 2020.

The award-winning entrepreneur took to LinkedIn last week releasing a promotional video to raise awareness and support for charity Parkinsons UK.

NEUROLOGICAL

Parkinsons is a progressive neurological condition and also the fastest growing in the world. In the UK alone some 153,000 people live with the condition which causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time.

People with Parkinson’s don’t have enough of the chemical dopamine in their brain because some of the nerve cells that make it have stopped working.

Gee told The Neg: “It was the diagnosis that inspired me to leave Marsh & Parsons and set up my own business, Hat and Home.”

On his LinkedIn post Gee (main picture) explains: “I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2020. It’s the fastest growing neurological condition in the world and affects 150,000 people in the UK alone.

“Since then, along with family, friends and colleagues we’ve raised over £50,000.”

And referring to his video he adds: “This short film tells my story to raise awareness of the condition and strengthen support for the incredible charity, Parkinson’s UK.

“If you want to find out more about Parkinson’s or get involved in fundraising just drop me a line.”

CHANGED MY LIFE

In the video, which you can watch HERE, Gee explains how he first became aware not everything was quite right and details the ‘day that changed my life’ as well as his fears for the future.

Richard Campo, Founder of Rose Capital Partners, commented: “What an incredibly moving video Ben. Well done.”
