BREAKING: Connells hires industry big guns to key merger posts

Two of the industry’s leading tech figures have been hired by Connells to help its integration with Countrywide.

Two of the industry’s leading tech figures have been hired by Connells to help its integration with Countrywide. These are Gary Barker and Jon Notley. Barker was until recently the CEO of Reapit before leaving to join Boomin as its CEO but ultimately not taking up the post.

Notley made his name heading up The Digital Property Group and later Zoopla’s sales teams and more recently helped co-found alternative deposit firm Zero Deposit. Notley is to head up Connells integration with Countrywide while Barker joins as its Group Chief Technology Officer.

These senior appointments are both directly linked to Connells’ successful acquisition of Countrywide, which was voted through by shareholder this week. The hires also show how seriously Connells now take tech.

Innovation

The company says Barker will be driving the Group’s innovation in technology as it continues to invest in this space, transforming the way IT supports and enables the business to work smarter and supporting long term plans to further evolve and expand in this area.

David Livesey, Connells, imageDavid Livesey (pictured), Connells Group CEO, comments: “We are thrilled to have Jon and Gary on board at this exciting time for the business, complementing our senior team and bringing with them decades of experience.

“As we expand, there will be further opportunities both for our people, and for the best in the industry to join us as we shape the future of the property industry.”

  1. I had actually put in print some time ago that Gary Barker would be an excellent choice as CEO of Countrywide, which of course is now Connells. The point being that someone of Gary’s calibre understanding the macro and micro landscape of tech in the real estate space, and what a profit looks like as he guided Reapit yearly into big EBITA million pound increases – would be a huge asset. As the new GCTO in many ways this is the most important role, as agency competes against the back drop of the 4th industrial (tech) revolution and consumers do things digitally.

  2. Strengthens an already strong management team there with formidable resources. Fair play to Connells with a top notch headhunt.
