The Chief Operating Officer of the Bruce brothers’ new property portal Boomin is Andy Stewart, a long-serving player in the portal world who started out at PropertyFinder.com during the mid-noughties before it was bought by Zoopla.
Stewart, who is a keen fan of boxing, now has a ringside seat and key role in running the Boomin operation as it attempt to overthrow the Rightmove and Zoopla duopoly.
He worked for Microsoft during his early career before joining Propertyfinder.com’s marketing department where he worked as a business analyst.
After the then Australian-owned portal was sold to – and later subsumed into – Zoopla he then worked his way up through the ranks to become its Marketing Services Director.
His skills impressed Zoopla founder Alex Chesterman during his Zoopla years and last year he joined Cazoo, Chesterman’s car sales ‘disrupter’ currently expanding across the UK.
But clearly another bite at the portal cherry has enticed Stewart back to less oily territory.
Jon Notley, who worked with Stewart when he was Zoopla’s commercial director but now runs Zero Deposit, says: “Andy worked for me for five years at Zoopla and he was a pleasure to manage; his team loved him and he delivered.
“Andy’s stand-out achievement was building an award winning lead-generation product using assets already in the business, which is still popular with customers today.”
