NSI was started by childhood friends and neighbours, Andy Stoner & Dan Coombe.
Andy, married and a father of 3, has comprehensive electrical experience. He started out as an apprentice trained electrician, which led him to run his own electrical firm. Andy then saw an opportunity to teach what he loves, and became an electrical lecturer at Garforth Academy. Andy has also been a National Operations Manager for one of the UK’s largest electrical testing firms; something he loved and wanted to develop himself.
Dan has come from a sales and marketing background, and has succeeded in an array of industries. He first plied his trade in the medical sales industry selling specialist equipment into the NHS and private care, but ultimately wanted to develop and grow his own business. This started out moving onto commission only door to door sales for 9 years; the latter years being his own company with over 40 salesmen reporting to him. The schemes varied from energy surveying (as a qualified green deal assessor), to home insulation, solar panels, and boilers. Dan has dealt with letting agents, landlords, housing associations, and local councils throughout the entirety of his career, and looked to utilise this experience to grow something sustainable.
Andy & Dan came together to create National Safety Inspections; a company learning, and expanding. NSI now have over 60 staff, a state of the art self contained office, unbreakable company values, multiple awards, and an outstanding client base. Current clients include Linley & Simpson, Ascend, Connells, Leaders Romans Group, Countrywide, Martin & Co, Hunters, and many many more.
National Safety Inspections completed approximately 20,000 EICRs during the legislation change; the “Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector”, and pride themselves on trying to “pass” a job if possible. Work is never outsourced, and all engineers are directly employed to ensure consistency is kept to the highest standard. With a capacity to complete 500+ jobs per week, and an average of 12 hour turnaround from test to certificate submission, you can be assured you are in good hands with a structured start to finish process.
NSI have recently created a new “SAFE Certified” package. Following the ESS in the PRS, more and more letting agents and landlords have stressed their concerns that a qualified electrician may not visit the property for 5 years.
“SAFE Certified” is an annual “Safety Assessment of Fire and Electrics”. This service combines the following 3 services:
– VIR (visual inspection report – an in-depth check of all accessories and the fuseboard) – ensuring there are no signs of damage or burning
– PAT – ensure all appliances supplied (including in-built kitchen appliances) are safe for the tenants to use
– Smoke detector tests – our studies show 85% of detectors are out of date
