Connells Group staff raise £17k in one day to support Ukraine

Britain’s largest estate agency has launched a campaign to raise funds to support those caught up in crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Staff within the Connells group will be wearing blue and yellow in various forms to show their support for the country as its forces fight an increasingly bloody and criminal Russian foe.

Nearly 1,000 staff have also donated cash to the Disaster Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal alongside running bake sales, quizzes and organising collections of essential supplies to be distributed to Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees in surrounding countries.

On Friday the Just Giving page being used to raise funds had hit £10,000 and by Sunday evening had already achieved 94% of its £17,500 target.

Passion

The level of passion about the situation in Ukraine, and the concern for the millions of refugees being created by the war is evident to see across the agency group, with staff of every level and role pitching in to help.

Several branches have also given over their window displays to the country’s blue and yellow flag colour scheme, all via the growing #StandWithUkraine social media hashtag.

“Colleagues across our Group have dressed in blue and yellow, designed window displays, hosted quizzes and raffles, started a group running challenge and much more to support the cause,” says a Connells spokesperson.

“We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated and fundraised today. As a Group, we will match any funds that are raised.”
