Rumours that Gary Barker has left Connells and taken up a board position at Epropservices have been confirmed.

Barker, who joined Connells as its Group Chief Technology Officer in February, is now listed as a director of Epropservices, which is the parent company that operates the Guild of Property Professionals and estate agency Fine & Country.

Prior to joining Barker was most famously the CEO of property software giant Reapit for 13 years and before that Head of IT Development at Countrywide. He also held a board position at Epropservices from July 2020 until February 2021.

In July 2020 the 44-year-old left Reapit, announcing that he would be joining Boomin in an unspecified but senior role.

Connells role

But he did not take up this appointment and instead took time off before being announced as Connells new Group CTO in February this year.

Barker tells The Neg that, having completed the first phase of tech integration for Connells and Countrywide and having built the team there, he’s stepping out to work more directly with a few select boards and “really help them grow and innovate and Eprop is the first of them”.

“I will be announcing a couple more in the next few weeks and can share those with you accordingly. Been a great time at Connells and they have a fantastic exec team and I leave them after doing some great integration work and achieving synergies between the two companies,” he adds.

Group CEO of Epropservices, Jon Cooke (pictured), says: “We are very happy to have Gary back within the Epropservices family as a Board Member. His expertise and vast experience will continue to help us focus on providing innovative technology services within the property sector.”

A Connells spokesperson says: “We can confirm that with the initial phase of our integration work now complete, Gary Barker is leaving Connells Group. We wish to record our thanks for his contribution in shaping the future IT strategy for our expanded business and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
