Staff at a high street estate agency were lucky to avoid serious injury when a car smashed through their front window.

The car hit two other vehicles before ploughing into Hunters Estate Agent in Peach Street, Wokingham, damaging office furniture, and injuring the driver and passengers who were taken to hospital.

Director Eltjon Pupla was with two clients in his office at the time – 2.15pm last Wednesday – but fortunately, the other three members of staff were out.

Agent Bes Polamani was just coming back to the office when the driver crashed through the window and into his desk. He says: “Thankfully I was very lucky to have been out at the time, a few minutes later and who knows what would have happened?”

The car stayed stuck in Hunters’ window until the morning and, as it was too late to hire a security guard, Eltjon stayed overnight in the office to make sure it was safe.

The glass has now been boarded up and it’s business as usual at the estate agency branch, which has been in the town centre since 2014.

We just need to buy some new furniture and a window display, which might take a few weeks.”

He adds: “It was lucky no one had been looking in the window at the time otherwise it would have been a catastrophe.”
