Estate agent Marco Helliwell’s chance to bag the coveted Christmas number one slot keeps on getting better after a slew of national media appearances sent his profile rocketing.

The Neg told earlier this week how West London agent Helliwell and his friends – known as The Half Timers – had released a single and accompanying video to raise money for charity FareShare as well as a chance to land the number one Christmas spot.

I’m obviously the star of the show but yes there are some talented musicians in the background.”

Helliwell told The Neg: “It’s been quite exciting. I‘ve just come off the phone to The Sun newspaper, I was on TalkSPORT yesterday and I’m due on GB News. I’m obviously the star of the show but yes there are some talented musicians in the background.”

The agent says he’d always had time to think up songs and music arrangements due to all the time he spends on the road but that it was the recent birth of his daughter that brought matters to a head.

EARWORM

“When my daughter was born it all just clicked together. Coupled with football and Christmas it just doesn’t get better than that.

“The song ticks all the right boxes – it’s a real earworm of a tune.

“As to how successful I’ll be in the charts… I’m a little dependent on England’s success. England will have to get to the semi-finals or the final if I’m to have any chance.

“Any media profile is great – I’m not a celebrity, I don’t have thousands of followers on Instagram or anything like that.”

PUNCHLINES

Helliwell’s song, ‘Coming Home for Christmas’, is packed with punchlines like “don’t you know that Santa’s English” and the provocative “throw your pints up in the air”. And he didn’t miss the chance to honour the women’s European Champions with the line “bring it home just like a Lioness.”

The single is raising money for FareShare, a UK national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations.

Together, they take good quality surplus food from across the food industry, delivering it to nearly 9,500 frontline charities and community groups.
