A growing estate agency in the East of England has persuaded two more high flyers from competitor Spicerhaart to join its business.

Cambridgeshire-based Hockeys, which poached leading Haart franchise holding couple David and Cathy Cummings a year ago, is one of the growing number of independent agents who are using ‘virtual offices’ to move into new territories they would have not considered viable cold-start opportunities in the past.

Plumb is kicking off his business as a virtual office but is expecting to open a high street branch next year.

He says: “Hockeys has always been renowned as such a great brand in Cambridge City and the surrounding villages and it’s brilliant to be able to deliver that further into the region.”

Expanding further

The other hire is Daniel Sumner, a former Haart branch manager in Cambridge, who like Plumb initially joined Hockeys in March via a virtual office in Newmark but has now opened a physical branch in the horse-racing town.

Hockeys says that the Cummings are now market leaders within the Wisbech, Cambridgeshire franchise area they operate in.
