Fine & Country “chill out”

Link to Community mattersThe team from Fine & Country Ambleside, Windermere and Lancaster teamed up for a chilly, uncomfortable evening to support the homeless community in Lancaster, in March.

The sleep out was organised by Lancaster and District Homeless Action Service (LDHAS) to support homeless clients into sustained accommodation.

10 people took part on the steps of the Town Hall in Lancaster on a clear night with temperatures reaching as low as 3 degrees Celsius.

Bessie Hallam from Fine & Country Lancaster said, “We came prepared with sleeping bags, jumpers and snacks. We ordered pizzas and shared the food with those who needed it.

“We listened to Phil Moore, Manager of LDHAS, about his experiences of homelessness and how it impacted the strategy of LDHAS to ensure their projects make a lasting difference.

“We all woke up feeling humbled by the experience and grateful to be able to return home for a warm shower. It was never more poignant than when we packed up our belongings and left, realising that for too many people this is a situation they cannot leave.”
