New homes are to be built on the edge of Strathaven Golf Club in South Lanarkshire after land next to the first hole was put up for sale, to help fund the relocation of its green keeper’s accommodation.
Located on the south-eastern corner of the course overlooking the first fairway, the 1.92 acre site has been earmarked for housing within the South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan.
Ross Woods Architects has already entered into discussions with the local council regarding the principle of a residential development including around 19 new apartments.
JLL is managing the sale on behalf of the Club. Nina Stobie, Associate Director at JLL said, “Strathaven has a thriving local community which will benefit from any additional development ensuing from the sale of land at the golf club. The opportunity to develop new housing on this prime Greenfield site is likely to attract significant interest, and we look forward to engaging with the council, developers and the local community as we progress with the sale.”
