John Dale, Branch Manager at Fox & Sons Lewes Road, Brighton, completed the 10k race at the Brighton Marathon in aid of Cancer Research UK. With an original target of £200, John raised £1,000 for the charity – a cause close to his heart following a close brush with the ‘Dragon Ride’ cancer. John says, “In May 2014, after two years of having seizures, it was discovered that I had a brain tumour which required immediate removal. I was booked in for surgery in June and thankfully it was a success, but I had to wait for two weeks to find out whether or not the tumour was benign – it was. The whole situation was very challenging for my wife, Jo, and our little boy, Teddi – who wasn’t even a year old.
“I felt like the luckiest man alive so I decided to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK. I thank everybody for their support, helping me raise five times my original target. I do truly believe that ‘together we will beat cancer’.”
