Freshly-minted independent agency looks to disrupt ‘corporate status quo’

Leicestershire agency Hannons also says having a branch is essential within their kind of market, as is being family-run and family-focussed.

Estate agency Hannons, formerly trading as House2Homes, has open a new office in North Leicestershire village of Quorn.

Based on the high street and set in the centre of a cosmopolitan village, Hannon’s are looking to secure market share in a much sort after location and believe their family-run business will share synergy with the local community.

Asked whether it considered employing a hybrid model or using one of the online platforms, director Sam Hannon says she and her husband and co-founder believe that, in their kind of closely-knit market, a physical branch is ‘essential’.

“As soon as people saw us preparing the branch to be opened, people were popping our heads in to wish us good luck, which you wouldn’t get with an online agency.”

Bruce Hannon, its office manager/valuer says: “Being a husband and wife agency team we pride ourselves on delivering a family-focused, hands-on approach, which areas such as this really appreciate.”

Gain traction

To gain traction and challenge the established ‘corporate status quo’ they are offering all new instructions a selling fee of only 0.85% and believe this will enable them to gain ‘board presence’ quickly.

As well as offering sales and lettings from their Quorn base, Hannon’s have also partnered with Under the Hammer and will be offering prospective clients the chance to sell their property with auctions within 28 days and also linked up with multi award-winning mortgage brokers Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB).

Sam Hannon adds: “Being able to offer choice to our clients is very important and in some circumstances, the auction route can work well and ensure quick release of funds.

“With regards to mortgages not only do we have MAB supporting us but we have partnered with another busband/wife mortgage brokerage based in Quorn, who already have an outstanding relationship with the local community.”
