Russell Quirk to ‘spill beans’ on why eMoov went bust

Former CEO of now resurrected business says he will offer visitors to Future Proptech conference a 'fireside confessional'.

The key reasons that led to the downfall of hybrid estate agent eMoov are to be revealed today by its former CEO at a conference in London.

Russell Quirk is set to be a keynote speaker at Future Proptech at the capital’s Business Design Centre and has told The Negotiator that his speech will be a final ‘fireside confessional’ insight into his role leading the business.

eMoov went bust in December last year owing £15.6 million to 135 creditors. Just £465,777 was realised by its administrators by in February including the sale of its technology and brand name to digital company Mashroom which has subsequently relaunched the business.

Proptech leaders

Quirk is being joined by some of the UK and the world’s leading proptech figures including Airbnb’s Global Portfolio Manager Pierce Neinken and representatives from developer Yoo Living, build-to-rent giant Greystar, legal firm Mischcon de Reya and lender RBS.

Estate agents are well represented at the event including former NAEA president and Sawyde  & Harris owner Katie Griffin, Tim Robinson from Knight Frank, Mark Hayward from NAEA and Winkworth director Carl Burgess.

The UK’s proptech pioneers are also due to speak at the event including Jonathan Werth of LiFE Ventures, Orla Shields from Get Rentr, Goodlord CEO Williame Reeve, Giraffe 360 founder Mikus Opelts, Dominic Wilson from Pi Labs, CreditLadder CEO Sheraz Dar, One Dome founder Babek Ismayil and Tom Allason, founder of Residently.

The event is in its fifth year and claims to be the world’s largest gathering of proptech experts with 2,000 delegates due to attend today.
