Addland says it is well on way to being major force in online land sales sector and has taken seniors from Rightmove, Zoopla and Hometrack.

Growing land marketplace Addland.com has poached another senior figure from the property industry, this time to head up its tech offering.

Brian Shaw, who for the past year and a half has been a senior tech figure at property data firm Hometrack, has joined Addland as its Chief Technical Officer.

Others recently recruited by the marketplace, which claims it is much more than just a portal, including former Zoopla and Hometrack product manager Hannah Parker and former Rightmove area director Sinead Hatter.

Addland hopes to bring the distinctly analogue world of land sales into the digital 21st century via its map-based listings service and off-market, estate ownership, planning, valuation and agricultural data research abilities.

Established six months ago by Thomas McAlpine, a member of the famous construction firm family, the platform has also recently added country estates, equestrian homes and smallholdings to their listings. The addition of Shaw takes the company to 35 employees, headed up by recently-arrived CEO Jonathan Williams.

Unmissable opportunity

“Addland represents a once in a decade opportunity to create a service that supports the entire industry – not an opportunity I could miss,” says Shaw.

It officially launched in April 2021, bringing ‘land to life’ for estate agents, housebuilders, developers, casual buyers, strategic land acquirers and professional purchasers.

Already more than 200 are on the platform, including Savills, Strutt & Parker, Bidwells and Land & New Homes Network, with over 3,000 listings now live.
