Police investigations are continuing after an estate agent in North London was mown down by a hit-and-run driver while showing a client the exterior of a new-build property.
The unidentified agent, who works in the Woodbridge Green area of North East London, was hit by a blue Smart car that mounted the pavement as he and a prospective buyer looked at a development of newbuild one and two bedroom flats being finished off on the corner of Horn Lane and Shenfield Road.
The incident was caught on CCTV and shows the pair standing on the pavement as they look at the front fascia of the red-brick apartment block.
The Smart car then mounts the pavement and drives at the two men – the prospective buyer jumps out of the way over a wall but the estate agent, who is in his 40s, is struck by the car and carried some 20ft across the pavement on its bonnet before being dumped on the road.
A friend of the agent told local media that the incident was ‘completely random’. The Met police have confirmed that the man was taken to a nearby hospital and that, although he was struck as speed by the car, did not suffer life threatening injuries.
The incident took place in broad daylight but so far no arrest have been made.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has any footage to call 101, quoting reference 4505/26Mar.
