All the agency's 200 branches will now be able to offer Kamma's compliance service for any local selective or HMO licensing schemes.

Hunters’ network of 200 branches is to be given access to property licensing compliance platform Kamma following a deal between the two companies.

Once seen as a specialist niche of the property industry, compliance with selective and additional licensing schemes for privately rented properties and HMOs is now a growing part of many agents’ and landlords’ bureaucratic burden.

Kamma, which used to be known as GenRentr, says the deal will enable Hunters to offer a key point of different in an increasingly competitive market for landlord instructions.

Properties managed by Hunters franchisees will now be covered by Kamma’s automated compliance, which comes with guarantees.

£6 million

Last year it was reported that compliance fines in London had reached £6 million, while the number of licensing schemes is set to increase by nearly 40% this year across the UK.

Yesterday Salford gave city-wide small HMO licensing the green light while consultations are currently under way in Westminster, Southend and Oxford.

“With landlord surveys reporting an increased interest in self-management, it’s vital that agents underline the value they bring to their customers,” sayd Kamma CEO Orla Shields (pictured).

“Property licensing schemes are on the rise, adding an additional layer of complexity to an already competitive market.

“We offer agents a level of expertise that cannot be found elsewhere, whilst removing the risk of large fines. By reducing the operational cost of compliance, we deliver the twin benefits of raising levels of compliance within the industry, whilst keeping agents 100% focussed on what they do best – letting property and growing their agencies.”
