JLL extends partnership with homeless charity Crisis

As part of JLL’s Building a Better Tomorrow sustainability agenda, JLL is extending its partnership with Crisis, the national charity for homeless people, for a further two years.

Crisis became JLL’s national charity partner in 2017 and JLL has raised £500,000 for the charity through activities and events, including its annual triathlon, in which over 3,000 property professionals compete every year.

The firm’s fundraising activities are specifically funding housing coaches in each of the Crisis Skylight centres across the UK, who are dedicated to giving more people access, support and advice on housing.

Many JLL staff members have also volunteered with Crisis, working directly with people transitioning out of homelessness, and a group are currently working pro bono to establish a new location for the Crisis Skylight centre in north London.

On a strategic level, JLL supported the development and major launch of Crisis’ Plan to End Homelessness, and hosted a property sector focus group for Crisis, which included JLL clients, to focus the industry on its role in supporting the Plan. JLL also contributed to a feasibility study for an innovative solution to end homelessness – ‘Housing First’ – which informed the Government’s £28 million investment to Housing First.

Chris Ireland, JLL UK CEO, said, “This is an important time for JLL and Crisis to work together. We have extended our partnership so we can continue to play a role in addressing a key social issue of our time.

“JLL is committing to raising £1.2 million to support 1200 people into housing; having 30 per cent of our people volunteering in support of Crisis by the end of 2020; and continuing to work strategically with Crisis’ Housing and Policy teams.”

Jon Sparkes, Chief Executive of Crisis, added, “This is an absolutely critical time for Crisis and JLL to be in partnership. This year Crisis published Everybody In: How to end homelessness in Great Britain, a plan that shows exactly how we can tackle the root causes of homelessness and make it a thing of the past. The support we receive from JLL – at both a strategic and fundraising level – is key to helping us deliver the plan and provide ongoing support to our members.”
