Changes at Propertymark following the arrival of new chief Nathan Emerson continue apace with the appointment of two new non-exec directors at the trade body.
Chartered accountant Paul Hemsley and professional regulator Karen McArthur (both pictured) are to join the Propertymark board to ‘drive forward its vision and strategy’ but to also act as counterweights to the otherwise exclusively estate agency dominated board.
The new appointments follow other changes following the appointment in February of Emerson as Propertymark’s interim CEO, who joined the organisation three years ago.
This includes beefed-up lobbying, campaigns and PR teams, a new IT system and website but also a period of ‘stability’ for the organisations following the departure of several key chiefs during the pandemic.
Paul Hemsley will also Chair the organisation’s Audit and Risk Committee and has vast Non-Executive Director and Chair experience including a career at PwC.
Paul said: “I’m really pleased to have been given the opportunity to join the Propertymark Board, especially given all the upcoming improvements on the horizon. I am also looking forward to adding some extra insight into the Audit and Risk Committee.”
Remuneration
Karen McArthur has extensive experience in governance, transformation and risk and will also chair Propertymark’s new Nominations and Remuneration Committee.
Her career has included many sectors such as housing, transport, water, energy, data and products and services.
She is currently chair of The Waterways Ombudsman, Independent Commissioner at the Direct Marketing Commission and lay member roles with professional regulators.
She says: “Propertymark is a respected and growing organisation and I’m excited to be part of its journey.”
