Belvoir has revealed its latest franchisee who is stasrting his career in the property industry just shy of his 60th birthday, a time when many other estate agent seniors are preparing for retirement.
Mahomed Imtayas is establishing the Northwood Wolverhampton franchise and at the same time has bought 27-year-old independent agency Millennium Properties, adding 250 units his portfolio.
This is the 100th acquisition of a business by a Belvoir group franchisee since it launched its Assisted Acquisition Programme seven years ago.
Imtayas, who says he has been in landlord both in Leicester and overseas in the past, has an unusual background for a estate agent, having run a stationery company in Malawi for 20 years before returning to the UK three years ago to run a recruitment agency.
He says he’s aware of the challenges faced by tenant, landlords and estate agents in the current market, and that he will be retaining two staff from Millennium Properties. His daughter, Anjum, will be the office manager.
“I am almost 60 years old now, but have always wanted to work in estate agency, so this is a dream come true and I wish it had happened 20 years ago,” he says.
“This is a great opportunity to build a business that I can pass onto future generations of my family.”
Northwood MD Phil Gee (left) says: “Many congratulations to Mahomed on the acquisition of Millennium Properties, which will help to introduce Northwood to the Wolverhampton area and allow many more people to benefit from a range of unique services including our Guaranteed Rent Scheme.
“Northwood has been working with Mahomed for quite some time, helping him to find the right business opportunity, and we are extremely happy to welcome him to the team.”
