Sheila Manchester, Editorial Director, leaves The Negotiator

Global events alter our aspirations; unexpected disasters force actions that, in ‘normal’ times, would seem unthinkable; opportunities and plans fall away.

Few knew how their lives would be affected by COVID-19. Everyone has had to review their position and decide what would be acceptable, what is possible, what is right for themselves and for their families.

For me, my decision is that having had a very successful career in the property sector, it is now time for a change.

Since joining Leaders HQ in Brighton in 1993 as marketing manager – working in a great team led by Neville Lee, one of the founders of ARLA,  moving on to be editor and publisher of the leading magazines for ARLA, The NAEA and NAVA (all at the same time!) and, of course, most recently as Editorial Director for 11 years at Propertydrum, publishers of The Negotiator magazine – it has been a challenge and a success!

My best memory will be our development of The Negotiator Conference and Expo and, of course, The Negotiator Awards, our shining star in the property business – much loved by thousands of the best agencies in the UK and a tremendous success – but, of course, sadly missing this year.

However, the property agency business is ‘holding on’ (everyone needs a place to live) and, no doubt, it will thrive over the coming years – and I am sure The Negotiator will lead the way.
