If you think beauty pageants are only for women, then think again.

A male estate agent in Bradford is hoping to be the next Mr British Isles, assuming he can beat the 49 other men bidding to take the title this year.

Jake Wallace, who works for the Horsforth branch of two-office Leeds agency Townend as a trainee sales agent, joined the property industry 11 months ago.

He is a model in his spare time and, before joining Townends, was a Forex trade and worked in the mortgage sector.

Wallace recently won the ‘Mr Bradford’ title – where he lives – but has been entered into the national competition to compete for the Mr British Isles title.

He has previous experience of modelling for local clothing brands in Manchester and London, and has also been involved in an upcoming rap music video as an extra.

Raise profile

“On the side I am wanting to raise my profile in the world of commercial modelling and television – I have a huge passion for this because fashion is something that I love… and also modelling helps me mentally,” he says.

The winner will get a £10,000 prize, be offered a modelling and influencer contract as well as a trip to Marbella with flights and accommodation, and a sightseeing visit to Gibraltar.

The final, which will include a catwalk section, will be held on Friday, September 3 at the Final Furlong Marquee at Chester Racecourse.

Mr British Isles – which describe itself as a modelling competition – also runs separate events including a Miss British Isles and separate competition for younger and old female competitors.
