One of the industry’s best-known estate agent names has announced his decision to retire, saying as a sign off  ’42 years – it’s been a blast’.

Peter Everett has worked at some of the industry’s biggest names including Hamptons, Yopa, CFP Software and, latterly, Savills.

But citing health issues and a desire for a less stressful life, Everett says he will step down from his role at Savills in Rickmansworth on December 15th.

Writing on LinkedIn, Everett says: “Unfortunately I’ve had a few health issues this year and with my 63rd birthday looming on the horizon I now need to prioritise my personal well-being by reducing the stress and pressure of working life especially in what is a very tough market that probably isn’t going to get much easier next year.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed going back to the ‘sharp end’ of agency in Rickmansworth where my agency career started back in the early 80s after 25 years of telling everyone how to do it.

Bookend

“It’s been a very neat way to ‘bookend’ my career and I’ve learned a great deal and it has also changed my perception on a number of things and if I could have my time again in senior management roles I would probably approach certain things a little differently.

“I’m also very grateful for the incredible support that I’ve received from Savills and proud of the results that the brilliant Rickmansworth estate agent team have achieved in what is a very competitive market.

“In making this decision I’ve also reflected on the memories built across five decades in the industry and some of the brilliant people I’ve had the privilege of working with who have helped to shape my career; far too many to mention but you know who you are.

Mortality

“My health issues have also heightened my sense of mortality and reminded me of all of the incredibly talented people that we’ve tragically lost over the years some of whom perhaps ignored the warning signs.

“A huge thank you to all of those who have helped to support and guide me through the years and those who have put up with my sometimes over-competitive approach.”
