Latest Rumble with the Agents takes total raised to £170,000
Paul Shamplina's annual event has now raised the sum, including £20,00 this year for a former Spurs legend's mental wellbeing charity.
TV star Paul Shamplina’s latest Rumble with the Agents gala evening raised more than £20,000 for charity Legends on the Bench.
The charity was established by in October 2023 by former Spurs legend Micky Hazard in memory of his nephew. It provides money to establish wooden benches in parks across the UK each one providing information for those suffering from mental health issues and/or suicidal thoughts including info on how to contact organisations such as Mind and the Samaritans.
Hazard told those attending the packed gala event at a hotel in North London that he set up the charity with the aim of reducing the number of tragedies recorded each year due to mental health issues or suicides.
During the evening, which saw 270 guests enjoy a three-course dinner and then watch four bouts of boxing by property professionals from a variety of industry backgrounds and abilities, later raising money via a lively auction.
Laughter and generosity
Micky Hazard, who attended the event, extended his thanks to Paul and the team, saying, “What an incredible night it was. So much enthusiasm, laughter, and generosity.
“As a new charity, this is an astonishing amount to help us accelerate our efforts to date. I’d also like to give a special mention of the Shamplina family who were a joy to work with, nothing was too much trouble and because of them we are able to order another 10 benches.”
Rumble with The Agents was set up by Shamplina after he recognised the “perfect synergy” between the competitive spirit of property professionals and the exhilaration of boxing.
“Knowing how competitive agents would be, I knew the idea would be met with keen interest; and here we are nine years later, having raised nearly £170,000 for charity,” says Shamplina.
The Landlord Action founder is also planning an extra special event in June next year to celebrate 10 years of Rumble with The Agents with the goal of surpassing £200,000 in total fundraising.
