Estate agent Portico has launched a ‘sustainable’ office in Fulham which is fully powered by renewable green energy, and plans to roll out the scheme across its branch network.

The fit-out includes low-flow taps that can save up to 50% of water consumption as well as low-VOC paints release less gas than traditional paints.

All fixtures and fittings were chosen to be as environmentally friendly as possible and all wood was sourced from locally produced FSC-certified wood.

Office chairs are made from 100% recycled fabric in a closed-loop content production process with 25% of the raw material derived from LRG’s recycled waste streams.

The carpet in the new branch is made from 65% post-industrial recycled content and the supplier will repurpose and recycle the finished item when it reaches the end of its life.

Portico branchMeanwhile the office ceiling tiles are manufactured in the UK using bio-soluble mineral wool, perlite, clay and starch and are both durable, 100% recyclable and rated A+.

Elsewhere, solar film lines the high-street-facing windows to reflect heat out of the branch and lowers the need for electricity.

Every element of the re-fit has been produced locally to Fulham or in the UK to reduce transport emissions and to support local businesses.

Working within and supporting local communities is a crucial focus for each of the agency’s 20 branches so it runs the Portico Places initiative – a discount card for select local shops and businesses – and used the office launch to promote the scheme.

Portico was founded as Edmund Cude in 1818 and two centuries later the family owned firm was acquired by Leaders Romans Group (LRG) in 2021.

David Wilson, Group COO of LRG, says: “LRG is committed to creating a sense of community across our nationwide high-street branches. Partnering with local businesses through our Portico places initiative ensures all of our homeowners and tenants are welcomed into their new community and feel at home.”
