Connells chiefs have hailed the impact of sales progression tool ViewMyChain has on the group’s sales completion times.

The agency giant says that since ViewMyChain was rolled out across its core chain in the last year, the time to complete has been reduced by 17 days.

There are now plans to extend the use of the service across the entire Connells Group, including Countrywide and Sequence.

Fall throughs

ViewMyChain provides automated chain building and property status updates without the need for manual inputs.

With 42% of Connells’ properties in a chain, the firm says it is vital to avoid fall throughs and reduce the time to completion.

Connells boss David Plumtree (main picture), during a video recorded to coincide with the announcement that explore why platforms like ViewMyChain are so important now, said: “The man-hours required to get a sale through to exchange has grown astronomically in recently years… but we’re converting approximately half the levels [of instructions] that we were when I first worked in a branch some 20 years ago.”

Impact

Anthony Glasgow, COO at Connells, says: “ViewMyChain is having a significant impact on our completion times at Connells, and those using it have given incredibly positive feedback.

“Our branches are finding it easy to use,” he says, “and enjoy the clarity and transparency provided by the one-screen view of properties and milestones in the chain and the automatic updates”.

This helps agents to reduce the time they spend on chasing for updates, he says.

Paul Halliwell, executive director at ViewMyChain, says: “It is great to have the Connells Group in the ViewMyChain community.

“Before the sale is agreed every agent is competing as hard as they can for the business, but once the sale and the chain is agreed then everyone is on the same side,” he says.

“No-one wins from fall throughs, uncertainty, delays, and unhappy clients. The reduction in time to completion has meant that Connells can collect fee income faster and reduce fall throughs.”

  1. Getting exchanges in 7-days is key, and that means reform of conveyancing law, reform of how property assets are financed and one universal system that looks after ALL sales, which ALL stakeholders have access to. Paper needs to be data, and I am not sure ‘over site’ software trumps, software that facilitates workflows that deliver speedier results. Property is still a lumpy ride, especially residential agency, as all are affected by its cumbersome procedure, change and digitization would favour all.
