Estate agents show strong interest in new ‘green agent’ initiative

A fledgling organisation attempting to make the property industry greener says it has seen strong interest from estate agencies despite not having officially launched yet.

Sustainable Agents is the brainchild of allAgents founder Vincent Friel, who says the scheme has been created with CO2 emissions in mind, encouraging estate agents, letting agents, and property management companies to voluntarily pledge to become part of a zero-carbon industry.

For example, a Vauxhall Astra being driven for 10,000 miles a year will emit 20 tonnes of C02 into the atmosphere, the carbon footprint calculator reveals.

Launch

Friel says the scheme has received a large volume of enquiries from estate agents and letting agents eager to join the organisation prior to its launch.

As part of the initiative, Sustainable Agents will utilise the largely untapped economic opportunity of recycling, green earth, wind power, and solar power.

To help agencies find out how green their firm is before joining, Sustainable Agent has launched a carbon footprint calculator to help directors measure their firm’s carbon emissions.

“While not officially launched yet, we are impressed by the volume of enquiries from estate and letting agents keen to join the initiative,” says Friel.

“We have also been working hard in the background with new income streams for member agents and will be releasing more exciting details about these shortly.”
