Is this the new breed of digital, hybrid estate agent coming through the ranks?

Boomin's latest hire has spent time in traditional as well as hybrid estate agency, a CV that more and more agents now hold.

The latest hire by portal challenger Boomin is an example of the new breed of estate agent becoming more prevalent within the property industry community.

Sarah Carrino, who started out in estate agency working for William H Brown for seven years, then moved to hybrid agency Doorsteps.co.uk in London in 2018 where she was Head of Estate Agency, later moving on to be a Territory Owner at Purplebricks based in Leeds.

After a now ten years in estate agency, Carrino has joined Boomin as a Regional Account manager – a common background for customer-facing staff who work at the big portals.

But Carrino is also one of a growing number of agents who have switched to online or hybrid agencies after initial stints in traditional high street agencies, many of whom are attracted by the ability to earn.

Growing numbers

Industry sources estimate that there are some 3,000 estate agent personnel working for online and hybrid firms, or around 10% of negotiators within the industry.

weatherhead boomminLesley Weatherhead – who worked at Rightmove and Zoopla before joining Boomin as its Sales Director, says: “We are delighted to welcome Sarah to the Boomin team.

“At Boomin we are always on the hunt for exceptional talent and continue to invest behind our sales and other teams as we focus on the ongoing rapid development of our agent and customer proposition.

“We have made a great start in our first year but there is still a huge amount to do to demonstrate to agents the uniqueness of our model and how only Boomin have created new tools, which help to open up the market and get agents in front of customers earlier in the process.”

  1. ?? If you worked in the industry and tired of dealing with the public or frustrated by the greedy fat cat bosses it makes absolute sense. Talent is hard to find, but find these publicity seeking announcements within the industry a tad futile doesn’t impress who cares, especially with PB and Doorsteps on the CV?

Almost all suppliers include as part of their introduction or presentation ‘I used to be an estate agent.’ In other words you couldn’t cope with the role or you failed! Doesn’t impress. Know where I would much rather be. On this side of the desk.

We ask the public about Boomin and the awareness is not yet prevalent nearly a year following launch after all the hype and excitement. Oh by the way haven’t heard from a Boomin account manager since launch.
