One of the oldest UK estate agencies reveals plans to ‘go hybrid’

Nock Deighton, which recently launched its own proptech offering, has signed up two agents to run its first two hybrid territories, with more planned.

An estate agency that started up 90 years ago has announced two new operational territories to be established via a hybrid team, with plans to expand further using this model.

Nock Deighton has branches in the Shropshire towns of Ludlow, Newport, Telford and Ironbridge but has now set up shop in Stourbridge and Shrewsbury.

The new estate agency territories will be headed up by Nick Lawton in Stourbridge and Andy Dawson in Shrewsbury, who will be offering the company’s full-service suite of services including sales, lettings and property management plus land and new homes via a hybrid model of working.

But Lawton and Dawson will not be self-employed, a route that Nock Deighton decided against in favour of a fully-employed hybrid approach, similar to the model adopted widely by several national and local competitors including SpicerHaart.

“Ideal candidates will be offered the security of employment with a share of the spoils that they bring in once they cover their costs,” says Nock Deighton Sales Director, Ross D’Aniello.

He says the company is now looking for candidates to help expand its territorial reach via this hybrid model in the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

“The aim is to make sure that we place the right people in the role, not promising unrealistic earnings but providing a fully supported job which provides excellent rewards,” says D’Aniello.

But hybrid working won’t be for everyone, he warns: “These are positions for those looking for a long term role, they must fit in with the culture of the business, be extremely driven and have experience in the sector and local area; we have an excellent team with a very high bar”.

Nock Deighton has also been busy on the tech front, launch a portal leads management proptech platform earlier this year.
