New course means agents can make thousands from home staging
The Home Staging Association has launched a new accredited course to teach estate agents about the financial benefits of professionally stage properties.
Following its 2020 Home Staging Report, which reveals how 100 per cent of respondents feel that home staging has been a helpful marketing tool when listing a property for sale, the Home Staging Association (HSA) has developed a course to help estate agents sell the service to clients.
The ‘Home Staging as a Marketing Tool for Real Estate Agents’ online course claims to teach property professionals about the benefits to the bottom line of helping their buyers visualise future homes. According to its report, this interior design trend increased the number of viewings by 71 per cent and can increase the sale price of a property by up to 10 per cent.
Over half of the estate agents surveyed said they got a return on investment from staging as the sale of the property covered the cost. With some styling services starting at £15,000, estate agents would certainly do well to understand the sector more and even learn some tips for dressing properties themselves.
Course modules, which are delivered by Paloma Harrington-Griffin, an ASP® accredited interior staging professional and founder of HAS, will cover the role of home staging in the sale process, how to find a professional and what to expect and how to sell the benefits of such services to vendors.
“Nobody like to leave money on the table. Yet, that is exactly what estate agents are doing when they put a non-staged property on the market,” says Paloma.
“Home staging increases the offer value and helps to sell faster, meaning agents make more money from the sale whilst saving on advertising and admin costs. You can’t say you are serious about selling property and not use staging services – it’s as simple as that.”
