Sean and Clint trek from the Midlands to Everest

Sean Newman and Clink Nykamp imageFine & Country West Midlands’ Sean Newman and Clint Nykamp are in training for endurance and altitude trekking to Everest Base Camp, to fund five more houses in Thangpalkot1.

After a two-week expedition, Team Thangpalkot1 will travel to the village to meet people living in temporary accommodation and the new houses. Thangpalkot1, along with vast areas of Nepal was destroyed by earthquakes in 2015. A second earthquake in the same year, destroyed 86 of the 94 houses in the village.

Since 2016, The Fine & Country Foundation has funded 10 houses, with more under construction. However, 60 houses still require urgent funding. The houses are built by the villagers and volunteers largely from the UK, and it only costs £1,600 to build a home.

Sean Newman says, “I want to thank everyone for their support, which is helped by showing that everything goes to the building materials because everything else is handled by volunteers and we cover our own expenses.”
