William H Brown Acquisitions

The Negotiator

Barnfields estate agency imageWilliam H Brown, part of Sequence UK, has acquired two agency businesses, Barnfields in Enfield and Cory & Co in Harwich.

Barnfields, a family business in Enfield, was established 40 years ago by brothers Keith and Malcolm Barnfield and is widely regarded as the leading independent estate agency in its area. With Keith retiring, William H Brown has bought the business which will trade as ‘Barnfields in association with William H Brown’, keeping Malcolm at the helm and retaining all staff.

“Barnfields will extend our presence in the local market and grant us access to further buyers, sellers, tenants and investors in the local area,” says Jonathan Weedon, Senior Area Director at William H Brown. We welcome Malcolm and the team.”

Cory & Co estate agency imageMalcolm Barnfield said, “Following 40 years of running a successful business and with my brother Keith retiring, we considered many proposals for the continuation of our business. William H Brown is a natural fit for us, a ‘like-minded’ reputable company and having associate agents stretching to Broxbourne and throughout Hertfordshire will be a huge attraction to our clients. I will continue to run the office as usual with our same friendly, experienced staff and we are very excited and proud to join the William H Brown team.” William H Brown has also acquired Cory & Co in Harwich, Essex, an independent family-run agency but unlike it, Cory & Co’s founder is retiring and the business is being absorbed into the local William H Brown branch.

Norman Cory established Cory & Co in 1981 trading in the Harwich, Dovercourt and surrounding villages and is also a leading light in the local town and keen Rotarian.

William H Brown will transfer its remaining sales deals into its existing branch along with three members of staff.
