NRLA

Championing a more responsible rental sector

The National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA) is the UK’s largest membership organisation for private residential landlords, supporting landlords, letting agents and property professionals across the country.

Being a landlord comes with a wide range of responsibilities, from keeping up with changing legislation to managing tenancies and maintaining safe, compliant properties. The NRLA helps members navigate those responsibilities with practical advice, trusted information, tools, training and resources they can use day to day.

Members have access to a wide range of guidance covering the issues they are likely to face throughout the life of a tenancy. This includes information on legislation and compliance, managing tenants, property standards and safety, alongside documents and templates to help put that guidance into practice.

When members need more specific help, they can turn to the NRLA’s Advice Line. Experienced advisers provide practical guidance on a wide range of landlord and tenancy issues, helping members understand their options and decide what to do next. Whether it’s a question about a tenancy, rent, possession, responsibilities or changing legislation, members have access to knowledgeable support when they need it.

Members can also use Portfolio, the NRLA’s property management platform, to help manage their properties and tenancies in one place. Portfolio provides practical tools to support the day-to-day running of a rental business, helping landlords stay organised and manage key information across their properties and tenancies and includes MTD.

The NRLA also provides training for landlords and property professionals who want to build their knowledge and confidence. Courses cover key areas of property management and are designed to help members understand their responsibilities and apply what they have learned in practice. Whether someone is relatively new to letting property or has been a landlord for many years, there are opportunities to develop their knowledge and keep up to date with changes affecting the sector.

Alongside the practical support it provides to individual members, the NRLA represents landlords and their interests at both a national and local level. It engages with government, policymakers and others across the housing sector to make sure the experiences and views of landlords are understood when decisions are being made about the future of the private rented sector.

Membership also gives landlords opportunities to hear from and connect with others across the sector. Through events, webinars and other activities, members can keep up to date with developments, hear different perspectives and learn from the experiences of other landlords and property professionals.

Ultimately, the NRLA is there to help landlords make informed decisions and manage their properties responsibly. It brings together practical support, expert guidance, property management tools, training and representation, giving members access to help when they need it and keeping them informed about the issues that matter to them.

As the private rented sector continues to change, the NRLA works to make sure its members understand what those changes mean for them and have the knowledge, tools and support they need to respond. At the same time, it continues to represent landlords and make the case for a fair, workable and sustainable private rented sector.
