It’s a knockout! Property industry raises £15k to tackle knife crime

The event, which was sponsored by London property developer Aitch Group, was held at East Ham Rugby Club.

East London-based The Wickers Charity continues to unite the property industry by inviting some of the biggest names to its recent ‘It’s a Knockout’ event for the third year in a row.

The event, which was sponsored by London property developer Aitch Group, was held at East Ham Rugby Club and saw a line-up of team-based sporting competitions just like the television classic.

The raised funds, after costs, were in excess of £15,000 – bringing the total raised this year by the property industry to around £160,0000.

The afternoon saw 200 attendees across 20 teams compete in sports day themed challenges such as tug of war, bungee races, three legged races and an inflatable assault course.

For the second year in a row Stirling Ackroyd took the trophy.

Other companies present included Aitch Group, JLL, Savills, Kingsbury Stone, KALMARS and Strettons.

LIFE SKILLS

The Wickers Charity mission is to deliver activities that keep young people off the street and build their life skills, provide positive role models that give hope for a better life and prepare them for a positive future, as well as giving them access to opportunities for employment.

This event helps us to raise much needed funds and helps companies with their team building.”

Henry Smith, founder of The Wickers Charity and Chief Executive at Aitch Group says: “The It’s A Knockout afternoon is an incredibly fun way for the property industry to unite (whilst still competing) to raise money for such a worthwhile cause. This event helps us to raise much needed funds and helps companies with their team building.”

WIN-WIN

Jon Cuthbert, Director at Strettons says: “My team absolutely love the day, it is a win-win, as we raise money for a worthwhile charity but also get the benefit of a team building event. Needless to say we are keen to be involved next year!”

A previous event held by The Wickers Charity for the property industry saw £145,000 raised through a Great Gatsby themed White-collar boxing event.
