Estate agents support epic D-Day charity walk to Normandy beaches
Agents from Noble Estates supported a 300-mile trek from London to Normandy to raise cash for D-Day veterans like Private Ken Cooke.

Estate agents from Noble Estates supported an epic ‘D-Day walk’ of more than 300 miles to raise funds for veterans from the Second World War.
As former servicemen and women joined the commemorations in Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day, a trek was organised to one of the beaches where the momentous landings took place in 1944.
Such a good cause
It was a 316-mile journey from the Tower of London to Gold Beach to raise £25K for the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment and charities including the regiment’s Benevolent Fund, and Walking with the Wounded.

Nick Goble, Founder and CEO of Noble Estates, who had to miss the walk due to a foot injury, told The Neg it was such a good cause to support after “the carnage of D-Day”.
Last surviving veteran
In a message on LinkedIn, he reported on how members of his former regiment met some D-Day veterans when they arrived in France.
Regimental Sergeant Major Mike Seymour described how he met veteran Private Ken Cooke (see main picture).
“Ken is the last surviving ‘first wave’ veteran of Gold Beach, having served with the 7th Battalion, The Green Howards (The Yorkshire Regiment).
“On June 6th, 1944, at 0725hrs, he landed near the two company’s (A and B Company) of the Hampshire Regiment in Normandy.
Victoria Cross
“Ken fought alongside Stanley Hollis, the only recipient of the Victoria Cross on D-Day,” he said.
“Despite being heavily wounded by mortar fire both in France and later outside the German city of Bremen in 1945 after crossing the Rhine River, Ken’s resilience and spirit remained unbroken.
“Ken is a remarkable character and a true hero for us all to look up to.”
