Formerly Housesimple, Strike says although its supported free offering is only available in the North, the agents is already piloting a 'virtual' version elsewhere.

Strike – the new name for hybrid estate agency Housesimple – has confirmed to The Neg that it has begun a pilot national ‘virtual service’ that enables anyone in the UK to sell their home for free via its platform.

The agency says that as a first step, vendors can book a virtual valuation via its website once they have entered their postcode on its website.

Founded in 2007 and backed by Carphone Warehouse founder Sir Charles Dunstone and led by former Rightmove lettings chief Sam Mitchell, HouseSimple last month rebranded as Strike and promised to be a ‘northern powerhouse’.

At the time of the announcement, Strike said its existing ‘free to sell’ offer was being extended beyond its initial Manchester and North West pilot into Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Sunderland.

But despite this extended free-to-sell launch in the North, Strike is clearly planning to soon begin a national service, following its comments today.

Further proof of this is to be found on its website, where the company is recruiting for Move Consultants and Strike Negotiators in Essex.

“We’re looking for motivated move consultants to book viewings and home visits, upsell products, and manage potential clients,” the ad says. Says Mitchell: “We set out to shake up the estate agent industry last year, becoming the first estate agent in the UK to sell homes for free.

“We’ve sold £1 billion of properties and saved our customers over £15 million in total fees since we launched our free service.”
