Planning has been approved for 10 two and three-bedroom, single-storey eco-homes in Upton Towans, Hayle. Work at the site, which has been unoccupied for a number of years, is due to commence this autumn.
Acquired in November 2018 by The Cherwell Group, a London-based property developer with over 25 years’ experience, plans for the one-and-a-half-acre site, which borders upon a nature reserve and area of outstanding natural beauty, to create a small collection of individually designed homes, sympathetic to their surroundings.
Properties have been designed with open plan, minimalistic interiors, maximising living space to create a relaxing and free flowing atmosphere. Use of fibre cabling provides high speed broadband throughout the entire house.
Eco features are high on the agenda, each home incorporates air source heat pumps, sustainable timber framing, underfloor heating, high levels of insulation and bee bricks. A number of homes will also have Sedum roofs. Locally sourced granite and materials will be used wherever possible, and landscaping throughout the site has been carefully considered to help nurture local wildlife.
Named ‘Dunes’ by the developer due to the site’s immediate proximity to the impressive dune system that leads directly to three miles of stunning beaches, homeowners will be able to dip their toes in the sea and enjoy views towards Gwithian and St Ives after a short, ten-minute stroll.
