Two business owners sell their lettings book citing ‘legislative challenges’

Bosses of firms in Kent and Scotland say their lettings portfolios will be better managed within the growing Lomond Group structure.

Growing industry giant the Lomond has bought two more lettings businesses, one in Kent and the other in Scotland, it has been announced, taking its lettings book to over 70,000 properties.

The latest acquisitions are the lettings business of Kent agency Regal Estates, which will be incorporated into its lead business in the South East – Miles & Barr – and the lettings book of Margaret Duffus Leasing, will now be managed by its Scottish flagship firm DJ Alexander.

Regal Estates’ existing sales operation will be retained by CEO Mark Pullinger, alongside his business partner Phillip Goddard, from its existing Sandwich office.

Similarly, in Scotland Aberdeen-based and 27-year-old firm Margaret Duffus Leasing has sold its lettings book, current business owner Sarah Harley citing the ‘changing legislative landscape’ as a key reason her firm has offloaded its rental management arm.#

She says: “As a family enterprise founded by my mother, the business has always been close to our hearts.

“After careful consideration, it’s clear that DJ Alexander’s scale, resources and commitment to service, make it best placed to support the future needs of our clients amidst the changing lettings landscape.”
