Britain’s longest-running property sale gets over the line after NINE years
At least four estate agencies have tried to sell this Grand Designs water tower in London but Foxtons has finally bagged the commission.
One of the property industry’s longest sales sagas has come to an end after that Foxtons found a buyer for an infamous converted water tower in London featured on Grand Designs.
The ‘beast of a tower’ as Kevin McCloud called the nine-floor structure following its conversion into a five bedroom home, has been on and off the market for nine years now.
As fans of the series may remember, its owners Leigh Osborne and Graham Voce (pictured, below) went £1.4 million over budget during it conversion and, soon after the project was finished, they put it on the market with Knight Frank for £4.75 million.
The agency could not find a buyer, so several other prime agents had a crack including Sotheby’s International, which had it on for £3.6 million.
The latest to have a go is Foxtons, which listed the property for £2.75 million in April.
Contracts have now exchanged, although the final asking price remains confidential.
The buyer is Jamie Hamer, a commercial director at a publishing platform in London, who say he intends to make some minor changes to the property when he moves in.
Foxtons Sales Director, Joe Divito, adds: “The unique nature of this property created a challenge to find a buyer with unique taste to match.
“Securing an offer is one thing, but getting a deal like this over the line is another and we’re delighted that all the hard work has allowed both the vendor and buyer to achieve their goals.”
