Gas Safety Week

Keeping your tenants safe in their homes is your responsibility.

The Negotiator

Gas Safety Week imageThis week, 19-24 September is the sixth annual Gas Safety Week. Organisations from across the UK are working together to raise awareness of the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, which can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.

Join thousands of others and be part of this national safety campaign. Pledge your support and gain access to free materials designed to help you promote gas safety and keep your customers and employees safe.

While most property agents understand the importance of gas safety, carbon monoxide poisoning still affects over a thousand people each year – and it can be fatal.

David Cox, ARLA, image5,123 organisations supported Gas Safety Week 2015 including ARLA. David Cox (left), Managing Director, Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA), reiterates its support for Gas Safety Week, saying, “ARLA wholly supports Gas Safety Week; conducting gas checks in any property is hugely important, but especially in rented properties to minimise risks for tenants. Failing to arrange an annual gas safety check, which in the worst case can lead to injury or even death, is a legal requirement.

“Anything that can be done to increase tenant awareness and reduce the risk in rental properties is a good thing. ARLA regularly communicates the importance of gas safety to its members, reminding them of the importance of conducting annual checks with a Gas Safe registered engineer, but Gas Safety Week provides a great opportunity to further raise awareness of the risks associated with not conducting safety checks.”
