East London estate agency Stow Brothers is stepping into the financial services ring with the full launch of Many Hands Mortgages.

The brokerage – run as a separate entity to the agency – is fronted by industry veteran Andrew Cherry who soft launched the new company with Stow Brothers‘ directors Kenny and Andrew Goad in July last year.

Cherry comes to the company from a short spell in finance at London-based SPF Private Clients and prior to that spent nearly four years on the lettings agency side at Savills in Canary Wharf and six years doing similar at Foxtons.

Seeing what the brothers had achieved with the estate agency really excited me about the venture.”

Cherry told The Neg: “Seeing what the brothers had achieved with the estate agency and that they had done so whilst having such a positive impact on the local community really excited me about the venture.

“Being able to do something in the finance space built on the same values was such a unique and exciting opportunity I couldn’t wait to be part of it!”

The opening of Many Hands Mortgages is another feather in the cap for Stow Brothers following a successful launch of a dedicated New Homes Team in 2021.

The five branch East London agency was launched by brothers Kenny and Andrew Goad in 2014 with a commitment to helping and developing East London.

COMMITTED

Kenny and Andrew (main pic left to right) told The Neg: “We’re committed to the local area and wanted to use our experience and expertise in selling homes and renting and managing property to help make a difference to people living in East London.

“We try to provide our communities with a property service they can rely on and be proud of– but the one thing we didn’t offer was financial services.

“Now, through offering this service through Many Hands Mortgages we feel that we can offer a truly added value to our customers if they want it.”

HELPING

And the brothers add: “And it’s not just for our agency – we’ve been helping house buyers through Many Hands no matter who they are or where they are buying from. And it goes without saying, there’s certainly no need to use Many Hands when using Stow Brothers but we can make light work of it if required.”

But it’s not all been as rosy for the family firm. Back in 2020 and while the business was navigating the start of the COVID pandemic and lockdowns the brothers had to deal with a staff issue that eventually resulted in a successful claim for unfair dismissal.

But Kenny and Andrew both say: “That was a real turning point for us – we all make mistakes, especially when starting a new business from scratch, but that is in the long distant past and we are a better firm for it.”
