Young estate agency gains traction after rejecting ‘over valuations’
Co-founders of Leicester's Hauseit agency say too many rivals use over valuations to gain instructions.

An off-the-high-street estate agency in Leicester says it is having sales success after rejecting the practice of over-valuing homes to gain instructions.
Hauseit, was co-founded by friends Imran Bashir and Mohammad Aliyan (main image) last year. They say their straight talking is gaining business as the company picks up a reputation for its ‘modern approach’ in an uncertain market.
The estate agency, which specialises in upmarket homes within the city, has sold homes in just two weeks recently, significantly faster than many traditional agents locally, it claims.
“Too often, estate agents overvalue homes to win instructions,” says Bashir, who has previous track record within the property industry prior to Hauseit.
Pricing honesty
“We’ve built trust by being upfront and honest about pricing. We would rather get a property sold for our client than give them false hope. That honesty has led to faster sales and more word-of-mouth recommendations.”
His comments come just a month after a BBC expose uncovered allegations of an historic over-pricing policy at Purplebricks, although the agency has since said the practice has been discontinued.
Aliyan says: “We want to raise the standard of estate agency in Leicester. Sellers deserve transparency, buyers deserve fairness, and landlords deserve compliance and peace of mind. That’s what Hauseit stands for.”
He tells The Neg that his firm’s mix of digital marketing innovation and traditional service standards, as well as honesty when pitching for work, are the reason his firm is enjoying success so far.
The firm’s founding duo are not the only agents to call out other for over-pricing. North London agency boss Trevor Abrahmsohn recently made similar comments, calling the practice an ‘ungratifying sport’ among some within the industry.
