Purplebricks has confirmed that the co-founder of the hybrid estate agency, Kenny Bruce, is to leave the company next Wednesday, 26th June.

Kenny is the younger brother of former CEO Michael Bruce and took the role of global sales director, recently working in the US to try and save its struggling American operation after its US CEO left earlier this year, and also fronting its UK customer services operation.

“We’d like to thank Kenny for the role he played in creating Purplebricks and helping grow the business into the UK’s leading estate agent,” says a statement released by its new PR firm Weber Shandwick.

“We’ll build on the foundations laid by both Kenny and Michael, as we focus our future efforts on using data and technology to reset the service standards of the industry.”

Multi millionaire

Kenny does not leave empty handed. He was made a multi-millionaire overnight in April last year when German media giant Axel Springer bought over six million shares from him. He is also understood to still have a significant shareholding in the company.

Kenny Bruce has also become well known for his largesse in his home town of Larne in Northern Ireland, where he has spent £1.4 million on acquiring and upgrading its football team’s stadium.

“My ambition is to make Larne the best team in Northern Ireland,” he told the local newspaper recently.

“I will do everything I can – emotionally, financially and in terms of effort – to make that happen. If we fall short, I’ll be able to say I gave it a damn good go.”
