Purplebricks rental wannabe Accommodation.co.uk is to recruit 50 people over the next three years as the youthful start-up prepares to officially launch its online renting platform and go nationwide.
The company is to start recruiting mainly for lettings consultants and marketing personnel as it moves from its birthplace in Lincoln to a WeWork space (pictured, above) in Manchester.
24-year-old Aaron Short founded the company a year ago with university pal Matthew Meekins, 23, backed by angel investor John Lomas, 58 (pictured, left), who is also a significant shareholder in the company.
“Manchester is a hub of creativity and innovation, so it makes sense that we continue to build and develop our business in such a vibrant, future-thinking city,” says Short (pictured, above).
“There’s so much great talent and energy to help us improve the rental experience.”
Accommodation has recently taken its business down a different route than it first hoped to, switching recently to a franchise-based model rather than a self-employed Purplebricks-style network of local experts.
The company has spent the past year or more developing ‘cutting edge’ technology that it claims automates the majority of lettings and property management tasks, supported via a team of managers at its central Manchester office.
“We think our technology is a catalyst for improving the customer journey, and the amazing people we have on the ground will be empowered by our streamlined processes to offer the best service for landlords and tenants,” says Short. “As a result, we can save everyone time and money while helping everyone find happiness at home.”
