A Question of Sport Quiz

Atchinson Raffety fundraising event imageAitchison Raffety was delighted to be the headline sponsor of this year’s Question of Sport Quiz and Charity event in Hertfordshire. The event is set to raise a record £40,000 for the Rennie Grove Hospice, a St Albans based charity that offers specialist care to local patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

A total of 250 guests, representing more than 25 companies from Hertfordshire, attended the event which included a lively auction and interactive sports quiz. This is the third year the event has been organised.

The night was hosted by Sky’s Premier League Reporter, Geoff Shreeves, a longstanding supporter of Rennie Grove who has hosted all three of the charity’s Question of Sport Charity Dinners in St Albans. This year, once again, he compered a very successful auction, making the most of his local knowledge to persuade as many guests as possible to part with their hard-earned cash to push the main auction proceeds over £20,000.

The Question of Sport quiz formed the focus for the evening, with guests using keypads to answer questions displayed on a large screen.

Thanks to guests’ generosity, the support of headline sponsors Aitchison Raffety, the event looks set to bring in more than £40,000 towards the charity’s 24/7 responsive nursing service in patients’ homes and day services at Grove House.

Director of Fundraising & Marketing for Rennie Grove, Gillian Barnett, said, “We’re thrilled that revenue from this event has nearly trebled during the three years we’ve been holding it. £40,000 will fund a Rennie Grove nurse for more than 12 months, offering specialist care to hundreds of local patients with cancer and other life-limiting illness and helping to keep them at home surrounded by their loved ones.”

Mark Bunting imageMark Bunting, Group Director, Aitchison Raffety, was on hand presenting at the evening event and captained the Aitchison Raffety Team table during their ‘stellar’ performance in the quiz. Mark commented, “We are delighted to be the headline sponsor for this excellent event. We participate in a number of fundraisers for Rennie Grove each year and are humbled by the support from the local community for this fantastic charity.”
