An established sales and lettings agency in Cornwall has joined Winkworth after 15 years as an independent business, taking the franchise group’s national tally to 107 branches.
Fowey River is based in the fishing town of Fowey – pronounced ‘Foy’ – in south Cornwall and is owned and operated by local David Elderkin, who is keeping his existing team as he switches to becoming a Winkworth franchisee, but says he is planning to widen his territory.
The local area is a hotbed for second homes with an average house price of £418,227. Winkworth says Elderkin’s marketing will be helped by the ‘network effect’ of its 68 branches in London and 44 other regional offices.
“Rebranding to Winkworth was a natural progression for our business, having already built ourselves a solid reputation and customer base over the last 15 years,” says Elderkin (left).
“Cornwall, and Fowey in particular, are in increasingly high demand for people looking to move here for a change of lifestyle, and we felt that with Winkworth’s branding and London to Country link, we could further tap into that market of second and holiday home buyers to maximise our office’s potential.
“Joining Winkworth opens up an exciting opportunity for us and we’re looking forward to seeing where this new journey leads.”
Fowey is Winkworth’s first branch in Cornwall but it has 13 other branches in the South West including in Brixham and Dartmouth in Devon. The new addition is just a few weeks on from another new addition, a cold-start in Northampton.
